We are products of the stories we carry. Narratives that shape who we think we are, who we think we should be, and who we want to become. These stories can have many sources. We are given stories by our families and those who raised us, from our peers and colleagues, from culture and society, and perhaps most important are those we create for ourselves. Some of them are empowering and give us strength to carry on through difficult circumstances. And some of them restrict and oppress us, often keeping us from living in line with our inner values or creating unnecessary conflict in our relationships. Through therapy, it can be helpful to examine the stories we carry to better understand how we they influence us, and to discern which stories nurture us and are worth keeping, which stories we would be better off discarding, and which stories we may wish to rewrite in order to better align with our understanding of ourselves.
While I have always been passionate about mental health, my journey has taken winding routes to lead me to where I am now. My past experiences include working in software development, in STEM education, and in social services for individuals experiencing homelessness. My own struggle for self-compassion and identity, my fight for existence as a non-binary trans person, and the work required to process trauma inflicted from both external and internal sources have all informed my practice in the field of mental health.
As a therapist it is my goal to create an affirming and non-judgmental space for healing and growth. I believe that we all view the world through the myriad lenses of our personal contexts, and that you are the sole expert of your own life. My expertise is in holding an open atmosphere to hear and witness your experience, and to walk with you as you explore both the paths you have traveled and the paths you hope to travel in your journey towards congruence and self-compassion.
I offer psychotherapy services via telehealth only.
My standard rate for a 50-minute therapy session is $100.
Prospective clients should schedule a free 15-minute consultation so that we can explore whether I will be a good fit for your therapy goals.
I do not accept insurance, so if my standard rate is not affordable for you, we can discuss the possibility of a sliding scale rate.
Let me know if you have any questions about therapy!
